HUGE Antique African, Copal Amber trade beads Strand/Necklace Early 20th C 900 grams approx.
These are HUGE beads of African Copal “Amber” (not Eastern-European Amber).
Copal Amber is mostly 'Amber' that originated in West Germany in the 20's for the African Trade made of Phenolic Resin. Many in the industry consider this Amber as it has been sold that way for almost 100 years. The larger the bead the higher the regard was given, and of course, the more it was worth.
These Beads vary in colour from egg yolk yellow to cherry and toffee colour and are very beautiful to look at.
Shapes vary from donut to slightly bicone , one bead is darker and more rounded.
