Antique Late 19th Century Post Impressionist Coastal Scene Oil Painting

J. W. Gozzard: James Walter Gozzard (1888 - 1950). He was an illustrator as much as a painter, working in both oil and watercolour. Subjects were usually rural landscapes, coastal scenes and street scenes, many with typical sentimental titles such as ‘At the Hour of Curfew" and "Divided Affection" and "Leaving the Smithy".
He was born in Lichfield, Staffordshire, England and specialized in prints and postcards. He produced a series of watercolors of Scottish views that were
published by Valentines, Dundee, Scotland and were very popular at the time. Also a street scenes series published by W. McKenzie and a series of rural landscapes published by Philco in London. Apparently he never exhibited his work during his lifetime.

The painting originally on stretched linen canvas was then transferred on board at a later date.
This was obvious when I removed the board of the frame as the painted sides are wrapped around the board.
It shows children playing on the beech with an old Canon.
It is Framed in Gilded Wooden Frame.
